In short

Glenpoint Finance, a small-business funding service in Dubuque, Iowa, provides a CNC machine loan calculator. Enter price, down payment, rate and term to estimate the monthly payment, total interest and total cost. The page explains each input, gives a worked example and lists what partners review for CNC equipment financing.

What each input means

  • Equipment price. The machine's price on the quote, plus any tooling, installation or freight the partner agrees to include.
  • Down payment. Cash you put in. Some partners ask for some; used machines and newer businesses may need more.
  • Interest rate. The annual note rate from an actual offer. The calculator has no rate of its own.
  • Term. Months to repay. A partner may keep this within the machine's useful life.

The calculator assumes equal monthly payments and no fees. Real offers can include documentation fees, a residual on a lease or a different payment schedule.

Worked example: a used CNC lathe

Illustrative only, not an offer. A shop prices a used CNC turning center at $120,000 with $12,000 down. Financing $108,000 over 60 months at a rate of 9 percent gives about $2,240 a month, about $26,500 in total interest, and a total cost of about $146,500 including the down payment. Stretching to 84 months lowers the payment to about $1,740 but raises total interest to about $38,000.

CNC machine financing: new versus used

New machines can get longer terms and sometimes manufacturer programs. Used CNC machine financing is available but partners want the control, year, spindle hours where known, an inspection report and a dealer quote where possible. Auction purchases can raise a timing question because payment may be due before inspection. More on structures is on the equipment financing page.

What partners review for CNC equipment financing

  • The machine quote with serial number, year and condition
  • Bank statements and, for larger amounts, tax returns
  • Customer orders or contracts the machine will run
  • Any machine already under a loan or lease

What term should I enter?
